New York-based fashion house DKNY has engaged in the battle against world hunger by creating a gold and gem-set bottle for its Golden Delicious perfume line, the proceeds of which will be used to benefit Action Against Hunger, an organization dedicated to finding solutions to world hunger.
The perfume bottle, which was created for DKNY by jewellery designer Martin Katz, is made of 14-karat gold and set with 2,909 gemstones, arranged together to display the New York City skyline.
Among the gemstones used are 15 pink diamonds with a total weight of 1.28 carats, four rose-cut diamonds weighing 0.32 carats, a 4.03-carat pear shape diamond, a 1.65 carat turquoise Paraiba tourmaline, a 7.18-carat sapphire and a 3.07-carat ruby.
The one-of-a-king bottle DKNY Golden Delicious is priced at $1 million. A regular bottle of the perfume retails at approximately $42.
