Diamonds are in the eye of the beholder

Diamonds are in the eye of the beholder

Literally.

Gold-plated contact lenses set with diamonds are part of a new line developed by Indian company Shekhar Eye Research.

Creator Chandrashekhar Chawan says the inspiration for the contact lenses actually came about as a result of his wife’s visit to her dentist where she had diamonds set in her teeth and says he realized that people loved jewels anywhere and everywhere.

The lenses are created using lenses that are usually used to treat eye illnesses, to hold the jewellery to part of the lenses so it does not touch the cornea of the eye.

Chawan claims the method is “very safe,” but experts say that the use of medical lenses for vanity is a cause for concern.

I’m personally still worried about putting them in teeth.
