Certificates

When learning about diamonds, the first thing you should know is that every diamond is unique. Each has a specific ‘fingerprint’, and a diamond report will help you to identify this. There are a lot of places that certify diamonds, but the three main ones and the ones that we in Diamant use, because we can rely on them, are HRD, GIA and IGI. These certifiers use the latest technologies, to ensure accuracy and uniformity when grading diamonds. So what does a certificate tell you?

  • Inspection date
  • Where and when the diamond was certified
  • The shape
  • Diamond measurements
  • The carat weight
  • The colour grade
  • The cut grade
  • The clarity grade
  • Map of the diamond, showing the inclusions
  • Details about fluorescence
  • Polish and symmetry of the finished diamond

You may also come across ‘laserscribe’ on a certificate, this is the process of using a very fine and precise laser beam to write a report number on the girdle of the diamond.
